Medvedev: Infringing national sovereignty could lead to ‘nuclear apocalypse’

Diminishing the principle of state sovereignty is fraught with the destruction of the world order and a full-scale war, even with the use of nuclear weapons, warns Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.
­“We have seen many examples of infringements on sovereignty in the recent years. Just remember military operations against foreign countries in violation of UN resolutions, statements that this or that regime has lost legitimacy – by the way, from the point of view of a foreign state rather than the people in question – as well as introduction of sanctions bypassing international organizations,” Medvedev stated at the International Legal Forum in St. Petersburg.
He specifically stressed that United Nations, although not perfect, is the only tool in the settlement of conflicts for the international community.
“We have no other platform, even though some may not like it. It is the UN Charter that calls for respecting the supremacy of law and sovereignty of states,” Medvedev pointed out.
He went on to say that hasty military operations usually end up with radicals coming to power.
The premier added that those issues, including the situation around Syria and nuclear security, will be discussed at the G8 summit in Camp David on May 18-19.

Anonymous shuts down Kremlin’s websites

A hacker group calling itself the Russian branch of Anonymous has claimed responsibility for shutting down the websites of the Kremlin and the Russian President.
The sites kremlin.ru and президент.рф have been unavailable for almost an hour on Wednesday.
Anonymous tweeted “Kremlin.ru – TANGO DOWN” on their Twitter account, co-opting the military-derived code word to report their successful attack. They also provided screenshots, demonstrating that the site was unavailable in different countries around the world.
The website of the Russian Federal Security Service, fsb.ru, has also had performance problems throughout the day, although there is no information on whether it has anything to do with Anonymous.
The Kremlin press-service has confirmed its websites were attacked by hackers: “We received threats from Anonymous several days ago but we can’t confirm it’s exactly this group that attacked the Kremlin.ru website. At the moment we can’t establish who’s behind the attack. Unfortunately we live at a time when technology security threats have mounted, but we have the means to resist them.”
“Russian Anonymous” had warned they would attack Russian governmental sites on Monday to show solidarity with the opposition demos.
The websites gov.ru and government.ru also faced hacker attacks on the same day, but did not go down.
The websites of several Russian media outlets were also brought down due to a denial-of-service attack on the same day.
However, no group has claimed responsibility for those attacks.

War On: Russia Green-lights Invasion, Abandons Iran and Syria

Russia turns its back on Iran and Syria, giving the green light for a military invasion while freezing Iran embassy accounts.

Russia has backed away from is hardline stance of standing behind Iran and Syria against a western military invasion, following weeks of warnings to respect the sovereignty of those nations.
Iran’s state TV is reporting that Russian has frozen Iranian bank accounts at the same time Russian officials change their stance on Syria, back the UN and saying they will not intervene against a military invasion.
Press TV quotes Russia foreign ministry spokesman saying the freezing of the accounts may be due to Russia bowing to EU sanctions against Iran, but more than likely western forces have negotiated a deal with Russia behind the scenes to get their approval to sack Syria and Russia.
Not only has Russia taken an about face from their hardline stance of telling the US and its allies to keep their hand off Iran,  they are now openly giving the go ahead for a military invasion of Syria calling the government the ‘Assad Titanic’ while referring to him  as a dead man who will soon be in a coffin.
With Russia now abandoning Iran and Syria,  the US can work on the prerequisites of invading Iran – taking out Syria.

Russia’s foreign minister warned on Monday that any military strike against Iran would be a grave mistake with unpredictable consequences, ahead of a report expected to be released this week by the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog agency showing that Tehran has mastered the critical steps needed to build a nuclear weapon.
According to intelligence provided to the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog agency, the IAEA, Iran appears to have received crucial technical assistance from foreign experts, the Washington Post reported, citing Western diplomats and nuclear experts briefed on the findings by the IAEA.
The Israeli media has been rife with speculation that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is working to secure cabinet consensus for an attack on Iranian nuclear installations.
